Tune in to BBC2 this evening for a new documentary “The Mormons Are Coming”
This documentary follows the journey of three young missionaries through the first few months of training and work in the field, which can make or break them.
The programme was commissioned by the BBC Religion and Ethics department and lasts just under an hour. This is not a Church- produced programme, but the content appears to be balanced overall and is likely to provide opportunities for Church members to respond to questions and convey their faith in Jesus Christ.
It was the BBC’s choice to use the term ‘Mormons’, but they do refer to the full name of the Church. Please note that there is one use of strong language in the film. There are some statements from those questioning their faith but they do not come across as belligerent.
Content will primarily focus on the lives of young adult members, their challenges, and their religious faith. The Church is portrayed as a Christian religion and as part of Britain’s faith community. Missionaries from the England Manchester Mission feature prominently.
