The Chosen

What is The Chosen?

The Chosen is a dramatised adaptation of the life of Jesus Christ based on the biblical Gospels, however it also takes creative liberties by adding fictional backstories, characters, and dialogue not found in scripture.

  • Season 1: Jesus begins his public ministry, calling his first disciples and performing miracles starting with the Wedding at Cana and conversing with a Samaritan Woman at Jacob’s Well.
  • Season 2: Jesus continues his public ministry, performing miracles, gathering more followers, despite growing conflicts with religious leaders and authorities. Jesus teaches and prepares his disciples through events like the Sermon on the Mount.
  • Season 3: Jesus and the disciples feel the stress of their growing ministry, face greater resistance from Jewish and Roman authorities and deal with greater conflict between themselves, all threatening to undermine Jesus’ ministry.
  • Season 4: In the final months of Jesus’ ministry there is a growing opposition from religious leaders who see Jesus as a threat to their power and influence.

While the show was shot in Texas in Season 1. Season 2 was the first non-LDS production given permission to use the Jerusalem sets built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goshen, Utah.
