Since January 2023 on a Saturday morning, Poole Ward has been hosting a Ukrainian School for children who along with members of their family arrived in the local area due to the war in Ukraine.
During the school time the children have lessons on Ukrainian history, art, music and dance.
Whilst the children are in their classes, the parents have the opportunity to attend an English class as well.
As a thank you to the members of Poole Ward, the Ukrainian children and their teachers put on a concert showing the songs and dance that they have been learning over the past 6 months.
The concert was closed with Lara, a young Ukrainian child saying a prayer of peace and the Ukrainian National Anthem being sung by the children, teachers and parents, causing many in the audience to have to wipe away a tear or two.
