NOTE CHANGE OF DATE
On the night of September 21, 1823, Joseph Smith prayed to know God’s further will toward him. He later told people that “I discovered a light appearing in my room, which continued to increase until the room was lighter than at noonday, when immediately a personage appeared at my bedside,” (Joseph Smith History 1:30)
Moroni, a messenger sent from God, stood before him. In mortal life Moroni had been the last of ancient American prophets having authority (Moroni 8:16) from God and whose teachings were recorded for our time. This first visit and others after it, heralded in the coming forth of The Book of Mormon and the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in it’s fulness.
To celebrate the Bicentenary (200th anniversary) of this event, President Cope and President Cottrell will share their testimonies of the Book of Mormon and discuss its importance in their lives. The fireside will be held on the anniversary evening of Thursday 21 September 2023 Sunday 24 September 2023. All are invited to attend.
